How to Wash Windows

Would you like a quick and easy way to wash windows?

First you'll learn what tools you should use:

  • Window bucket with dawn dish soap for a solution
  • Broom to remove cobwebs and dry soil off windows and frames
  • Utility belt applicator squeegee with window applicator and squeegee so they are accessible making the job easy.
  • Microfiber and cotton clothes to wipe frames and for touching up glass
  • Plastic scraper, razor blades and steel wool good for removing bug poop and other debris on the glass. Make sure  the glass is wet before using blades
  • Step ladder for higher windows

Now that we got our equipment covered we will demonstrate on how to wash a window.

Conventional motion from Left to Right:  Wipe down window with your window applicator.  Take a dry cloth and wipe your top critical edge dry.  Then take your squeegee from left to right all the way down the window.

Top To Bottom Technique:  Wet the window down with your applicator leaving the critical edges so you don't have to wipe the edges down.  Use your squeegee from top to bottom then wipe down the framing and edging with a dry towel.

Super Swirl Technique:  This is the process where a squeegee never leaves the window.   Wipe down window with applicator but leave the critical edges dry.  Start in the left hand or right hand corner bringing the squeegee across as you come into the corner pull it into the corner then drop your wrist and bring it down and back up.  Keep doing this motion until you cover the glass.  The squeegee doesn't leave the glass until you clean it down the window.  Wipe down frame and edges.  The super swirl is a very efficient way of washing a window.
